Day 7 - (05/09) Drasco, AR to Tupelo, MS

It's Monday and it's time to get back on the road.

We had a relaxed morning and a breakfast of Jim's ham and cheese omelets and Sunshine Donuts.  It was sad to say goodbye, but the family time and wedding experience was great.

We traveled 247 miles to Tupelo, MS.  Much of the route retraced our tracks into Drasco because roads are still closed due to high water.  The route: AR 25 north to Concord, AR 87 southeast to Pleasant Plains, US 167 south to Bald Knob, US 64 east to Marion, I-55 south to I-240 (around Memphis), then US 78 southeast (into Mississippi) to Tupelo.  We ended the travel day at The Campground at Barnes Crossing in Tupelo.

Saying Goodbye
We’ve had 4 great days with family.
Hitching is more fun as a family affair
Youngest, middle and oldest
How do you say goodbye to a face like this?
Along the Way
The weather was beautiful; perfect for driving.  The roads were good and dry.  High-water sights were quite sobering.
Mississippi River along I-55 approaching Memphis
There's an access road under there

(not fancy, but it did the trick)

Shopping Trip
We had a bit of fun after unhitching.  We went shopping for a GPS at Best Buy and got a Garmin nüvi 1300LMT.  We’re grateful to Jackie and Larry Couron for the education and encouragement.

We had dinner at Wendy’s and dessert at Baskin-Robbins.  The evening was spent loading current maps into the GPS.
