Day 1 - (05/03) Columbus, OH to Elizabethtown, KY

We had a very wet, slow start today.  About 2" of standing water around the trailer greeted us when we arrived at the storage lot.  It rained during final loading and hook-up.  It stopped raining after the outside work was done.  We left Columbus at noon.
Lee's RV & Boat Storage  - the trailer stays here with much larger neighbors
(note: no standing water ... this picture was not taken today)

The 265 mile trip to Glendale Campground in Elizabethtown, KY offered  lots of variety.  There were sprinkles, light rain, heavy clouds and sun.  There was more water standing in fields and overflowing streams than we'd ever seen.

The route: I-270 to I-71S to I-65S took us past Cincinnati and Louisville.

Gas prices dropped continually throughout the day.  We paid $4.199 per gal in Columbus and $3.999 in Sparta, KY.  We saw $3.799 per gal near Louisville.

Glendale Campground
Kentucky Derby visitors had begun check-in when we arrived.  Fortunately, it's early in the week and we're only staying one night.  This campground is not fancy. It's clean, comfortable and a great value.  Thanks to our CampClub USA membership we have a full hook-up (including cable TV) for $15.50 per night.
Parked and set-up at Site A6 ... not fancy
They offer a playground, volleyball, basketball, a pool and a pavilion.

Some sites are nestled among trees.
