Day 3 - (05/05) Walcott, AR to Drasco, AR

It's a beautiful sunny day, but our drive today will be challenging due to high water all around us.

Dave (Dick's brother) and Jim Couron (Dick's brother-in-law) called last night to let us know a number of roads leading to Drasco were closed.  They routed us on the following 5.5 hour, 143 mile adventure:  south on AR 168, then AR 141 to Jonesboro, US 49 from Jonesboro to US 64 at Morton, west on US 64 to Bald Knob, and then US 167 to AR 87 to AR 5/AR25 to Drasco.

The 29 mile leg between Morton and Bald Knob was most dramatic.  First, I-40 east and west had been closed and all of the westbound traffic was re-routed onto US 64.  Traffic was backed up for miles.  We also saw a lot of flooding caused by the White River as we approached Bald Knob.  The water was really high and it hadn't crested yet.

We drove non-stop to Drasco (no gas, no rest room and no lunch breaks).  We stopped there for a bite to eat.  We got to Jim & Bobbie Couron's at 4:15pm.

Brother Dave had a site prepared for us.

It's great to see family!
