Weather – Sunny and cooler today. What a nice change.
We were back on the road today. Boy, were we! Our journey included 265 driving miles in 5 states (NC, VA, MD, DE and NJ). We crossed two large bays. We left The Refuge Campground at 9:45am and arrived at Beachcomber Camping Resort in Cape May, NJ at 9:30pm.
Chesapeake Bay
The Chesapeake Bay crossing consists of 17 miles of bridges and tunnels.

Bridge is two-lane; Tunnel is single-lane (speed limit is 55 mph above and below the surface) |
Other Sights
Some scenes come in different shapes and colors.
We saw this hotrod at a Maryland Visitor Center |
Delaware Bay
The Cape May-Lewes Ferry crossed Delaware Bay in 1 ½ hours. Note: Lewes, DE is the first city in the first state.
Waiting for the ferry (we got there at 5pm, the ferry departed at 7:45pm) |

Carol was concerned about motion sickness, but she did great. |
Sunset on Delaware Bay |
The cool breeze makes for great hugging. |
The Campground
We arrived in the dark and had to back into a space bounded by two trees and two fences. This is supposed to be a very nice place. Unfortunately, we won’t know until tomorrow when we can see it.
This was a long day. We look forward to sleeping without the air conditioner for the first time in many days.
